Set a path to electrify your home.

Electrifying our homes and improving their energy efficiency will lower energy bills, reduce emissions, and improve our health and comfort - all at the same time. Installing and maintaining electric appliances also creates local jobs that can’t be sent offshore.

Getting to net zero means electrifying everything.

Electricity generation is the biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Curtin, followed by transport. Electrifying our buildings and transport to run on renewable energy would cut 90% of Curtin’s emissions.

Who are we ?

Electrify Curtin is a group of optimistic, local volunteers with a mission to electrify the electorate. We’re here to help you plan your transition, and set you on a path toward a brighter, cleaner future.

“I’m constantly in awe of the passion, energy, and expertise of volunteers in my electorate. I have been working with community volunteers to create a Curtin Pathway to Net Zero plan and Electrify Curtin has emerged as the best way to help local households on their electrification journey. I will continue to advocate for better national policy to support this transition.

-        Kate Chaney MP Federal Member for Curtin

What do we mean by electrify and energy efficiency?

Electrifying means switching our appliances and vehicles to run on renewable electricity instead of gas or petrol.

Energy efficiency is about how much energy it takes to run our homes and make them comfortable. Efficient homes do more with less.

Why electrify?

  • Cheaper energy bills

  • Lower greenhouse gas emissions

  • Better health and air quality

  • More comfortable homes

  • Local jobs

CHEAPER ENERGY BILLS

Australian rooftop solar is the cheapest home energy in the world.

With rooftop solar, battery, electric appliances and an EV, the average electrified home could save $3,000 per year in running costs. Rewiring Australia

MORE COMFORTABLE HOMES

Most Australian homes have very poor energy efficiency. This means that they’re very hot in summer and cold in winter without extra heating or cooling, exposing occupants to dangerous extreme temperatures.

Renters are more likely to live in inefficient homes, where they are forced to spend a much higher percentage of their incomes on household bills.

LOCAL JOBS

Installing and maintaining all these electric appliances, vehicles, and energy efficiency retrofits will create thousands of jobs in our communities and boost local economies.

BETTER HEALTH AND AIR QUALITY

Burning gas in our homes and petrol in our cars doesn’t just create greenhouse gases. There are many other dangerous pollutants we are breathing in that can cause respiratory illnesses like asthma.

LOWER EMISSIONS

An electrified home and vehicle running on renewable energy has zero energy emissions.

Electrifying our buildings and transport to run on renewable energy gets Curtin nearly all the way to net zero. To electrify at scale, we need to increase our energy efficiency and do more with less.
